Manufacturer plans new global headquarters
A maker and distributor of fire protection systems plans to build a new global headquarters in the area.
Grand Rapids-based Viking Group said today it will develop the facility in Caledonia Township.
Viking said the facility will be located near M-6 and M-37 and is slated for completion in 2019.
The exact address and the facility’s square footage have not been finalized.
The cost of the project, which will be internally financed, was not disclosed.
“The expansion of our West Michigan footprint is an investment not only in the communities we are proud to call home, but in our employees, who are the key to our continued success,” said James Golinveaux, president and CEO, Viking Group.
Viking Group’s new headquarters in Caledonia will house research and development and administrative and office personnel.
The company will move more than 70 employees from its Hastings location and more than 20 from its Grand Rapids office into the new facility once it is complete.
Golinveaux said the moves will allow Viking Group to grow its manufacturing capabilities in Hastings and its R&D function through the Caledonia facility.
Viking Group plans to hire 50 employees over a three-year period.
Some will be for manufacturing roles in Hastings and others will be for support roles, including R&D, training, technical support, marketing and finance.
The new global headquarters will feature “a modern, professional work environment” designed to promote “creativity, innovation and collaboration.”
It will include a high-tech training facility to support the organization’s goal of becoming “the recognized leader in fire protection training.”
