Firm hires director of pre-construction
A construction firm in the region has created a new position as part of its growth and leadership development strategies.
Holland-based Lakewood Construction said last month it hired Chad Nienhuis as director of pre-construction services.
He will be responsible for the daily management and successful completion of the pre-construction phases of client projects.
“Chad has exceptional insight and his goals and priorities are in alignment with ours — to build great relationships, buildings and communities,” said Nick Nykerk, president, Lakewood Construction. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team and to our clients.”
Nienhuis brings more than 18 years of experience in construction to the firm.
Most recently, he served as regional director for Lansing-based Granger Construction.
He also spent 16 years with Spence Brothers, serving in various positions, from project engineer to VP.
Nienhuis has held several board positions in the industry: chair, Eastern Michigan University Construction Management Industry Advisory Board; member, Washtenaw Contractors Association board; and president, American Concrete Institute Greater Michigan Chapter board.
He holds a B.S. in construction management from Eastern Michigan University and is a certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional.
Lakewood Construction was founded in 1971 as a general contractor specializing in commercial and industrial projects.
The company now provides construction management, project management, design-build and real estate development for health care, commercial, educational and industrial clients throughout West Michigan.
