Nonprofit hosting Taste of the West Side
A local nonprofit is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow that will feature a variety of food from West Side businesses.
Steepletown Neighborhood Services' annual Taste of the West Side is from 5-8 p.m. at the Goei Center in Grand Rapids, at 818 Butterworth St. SW.
The event will include a live auction and food from across the neighborhood: Sovengard, City Built Brewing Company, Maggie's Kitchen, Amore Trattoria Italiana, The Knickerbocker, Butcher's Union, That Polish Girl Catering, Blue Dog Tavern and The Jolly Pumpkin.
The event will also include a beer brewed specially for the occasion by New Holland Brewery.
Winners of the organization’s 2018 Neighborhood Recognition Award and the 2018 Alumni Excellence Award will be announced at the event.
The event’s emcee is WZZM 13’s Juliet Dragos, and the auctioneer is Tony Gates.
Tickets are $100 and can be purchased online.
Formed in 1993 by several Catholic churches — St. James, St. Mary and Basilica of Saint Adalbert — on Grand Rapids’ lower west side, Steepletown serves the local under-served population.
More than 20 workers provide programs and services such as GED preparation, senior services and assistance with basic needs.
