Historic building opens leasing for apartments and offices
The redevelopment of a historic Grand Rapids building will soon be finished.
Grand Rapids-based Bazzani Associates is putting the final touches on phase two of the Kingsley Building, at 1415 Lake Dr. SE.
The $9.3-million build out added office space to the second floor and 41 apartments on the third, fourth and fifth floors.
Office space ranges from 200 to 500 square feet. Apartments come in one- and two-bedroom units with in-suite washers and dryers, granite countertops and additional storage.
The building features a large rooftop gathering place with a fire pit.
The project also included a two-level parking deck adjacent to the building.
Bazzani President Peter Skornia said leasing is now open for both apartment and office tenants. Bazzani is handling office leases, and Maplegrove Development is handling apartments.
Maplegrove joined the project in October 2016, the Business Journal previously reported. The firm invested $1.5 million to help Bazzani on the second phase of the project.
The first phase of the building’s renovation, ground-floor retail, was completed in 2012.
Both phases of construction totaled around $10.8 million. The build-out project has been LEED certified.
The Building Owners and Managers Association of West Michigan will host a tour of the renovated building on April 11 at 11:30 a.m.
The Kingsley Building was built in 1926 and placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings in 2012.
