A suburb of Grand Rapids is considered one of the top places to live in the country.

East Grand Rapids ranks No. 54 in the 2018 “Best Places to Live” ranking by Niche, a website that ranks neighborhoods and schools

The ranking is based on data on more than 15,000 cities, towns and neighborhoods, including cost of living, public schools, safety, jobs, local amenities, health and fitness, walkability and weather.

Niche gathered data from the U.S. Census, FBI, CDC, Department of Education and local input.

East Grand Rapids’ overall Niche grade is an A+. The suburb earned an A+ in public schools, housing, raising a family, crime, nightlife and a C+ in diversity.

The city has a population of 11,297, with a median home value of $303,400 and a median rent of $1,395. Ninety-three percent of residents own their homes.
