Employee recognition company expands HQ
A local company that makes employee recognition products is unveiling its expanded headquarters — and now planning to help a nonprofit renovate its space.
Grand Rapids-based Baudville Brands will celebrate its 35th anniversary next week by unveiling 20,000 square feet of renovations and a 10,000-square-foot expansion at its 71,000-square-foot headquarters at 5380 52nd St. SE.
The invitation-only celebration is set for 4-8 p.m. on April 19.
“Our goal is to make our facility the place our people could do their very best work,” said Brad Darooge, president and CEO, Baudville Brands. “The way we work continues to evolve, and we believe our new workplace will amplify the efforts of our team at every level.”
Baudville Brands did not disclose the cost of the project.
The space features a new lobby, an updated Club Baudville Café, 9,000 square feet of new office space and 15 new meeting rooms to accommodate the organization’s growth and evolving usage of workspace.
Firms on the project
Holland-based Elzinga & Volkers was the project’s contractor.
The architect was Grand Rapids-based AMDG Architects.
Grand Rapids-based Villa Décor was the interior designer.
Baudville Brands has 120 full-time employees.
The renovation will allow the company to grow its staff by more than 50 percent over the next three years.
Beginning in June, Baudville Brands’ charitable organization, Baudville’s Helping Hand, will renovate Ele’s Place - Grand Rapids’ facility on Michigan Street.
“We designed our own space for growth this past year, and it’s our desire to pay it forward by taking on the renovation of their facility on Michigan Street,” Darooge said. “Baudville’s Helping Hand will fund the partnership, and our staff will participate in the project from start to finish.”
Nicole Rodammer, managing director at Ele’s Place - Grand Rapids, said her organization has had a branch in Grand Rapids for five years.
“We are so thankful to the Baudville Brands team for helping us update our facility that will allow us to further our mission of helping children cope with the death of a loved one.”
Baudville’s Helping Hand will renovate the two-story house where Ele’s Place - Grand Rapids is located.
Project elements include an updated entry to help families feel welcome, a fully re-designed intake room, a new library, updated outdoor signage, updated technology and a new outdoor area that will have a variety of uses, including for hosting family days.
Information about the cost of the project, as well as the contractor and architect, was not immediately available.
Work will continue throughout 2018.
