An out-of-state gas company has acquired a local family owned distributor to the food and beverage industries.

Pennsylvania- based Airgas, a supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases, recently acquired Carbonic Systems, according to Dallas-based Generational Equity last week. The deal closed last summer.

Carbonic Systems, formerly family owned, is a regional distributor of beverage-grade CO2 and food-grade nitrogen, as well as beer gas and oxygen.

Fred Zweifel, an SVP at Generational Equity, closed the deal.

“Carbonic Systems’ distribution network provided a strong strategic opportunity for Airgas,” Zweifel said. “Airgas will now be able to provide additional opportunities to an already established regional network.”

Carbonic will continue to act as a local company and retain its current management staff.
