ArtPrize appoints executive director
ArtPrize has named a new leader.
ArtPrize said today its board of directors appointed Jori Bennett as the nonprofit’s executive director.
Bennett has served as ArtPrize’s interim executive director since January.
Previously, she served as business development director at ArtPrize for three years.
“Jori is a proven leader with the vision needed to continue to build the great organization that has been the foundation of ArtPrize’s first decade,” said Rick DeVos, founder and chairman, ArtPrize. “Most importantly, she has the skillset to develop ArtPrize into an arts organization with national influence and effectiveness.
“She is a skilled collaborator with deep experience in building and leading teams, creating positive partnerships within the community and leveraging her creative background to move important initiatives forward to create an exciting future.”
Bennett helped to generate multi-year commitments and grow ArtPrize's sponsorship base and donor base. In 2017, 60 percent of ArtPrize’s revenue came from sponsorships from regional and national corporations and organizations. She has also led other “important initiatives and programs.”
“The focus of ArtPrize during its next decade is to build upon the catalyst we’ve created in West Michigan and deliver our creative style and approach to the broader art world and national stage, through more conversations about art and why it matters more than ever,” Bennett said.
Before joining ArtPrize, Bennett was the head of creative for GO! Experience Design in Los Angeles.
She holds a B.F.A. in graphic and industrial design from Savannah College of Art and Design.
ArtPrize 10 will take place in downtown Grand Rapids from Sept. 19 through Oct. 7.
