West Michigan town is No. 1 'small city to start a business' in US

A town in West Michigan has been ranked the most business-friendly small city in the nation.

Holland tops the 2018 ranking of “Best Small Cities to Start a Business” by WalletHub, a personal finance website. The city also snagged the top spot in the 2017 ranking.

To create the ranking, WalletHub evaluated more than 1,200 small cities across 18 key metrics, including average growth in number of small businesses, access to investors and labor costs.

The ranking is based on communities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000.
