South Korean restaurant chain entering West Michigan market
A chain of South Korean restaurants is planning its first Michigan location along a major retail corridor in town.
New York-based Bonchon Chicken will open a 2,644-square-foot restaurant this fall — likely in October — in the Knapp North shopping center in Grand Rapids Township, at 2365 E. Beltline Ave. NE, according to NAI Wisinski of West Michigan yesterday.
Bonchon is an international chain known for its Korean fried chicken and wings.
It was founded in Busan, South Korea in 2002 and later moved its headquarters to New York City.
A Sherwin Williams store and Sara’s Sweets Bakery will also be opening in the development.
Grand Rapids-based Pinnacle Construction Group is the owner of the development and contractor for the three-building project.
Doug Taatjes and Hillary Taatjes-Woznick of NAI Wisinski of West Michigan represented Pinnacle Construction Group in the lease deal.
Chris Prins of Colliers International West Michigan represented Bonchon in the transaction.
