Tape maker finishes $20M expansion
A global maker of adhesives has unveiled a $20-million expansion at its plant in the area.
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Tesa Tape formally opened last week the new space at its North American production facility, Tesa Plant Sparta LLC in Sparta, at 324 S. Union St.
The manufacturer launched the plant expansion in June 2016. Construction was finished in June 2017, and production ramps up this week.
The plant houses innovative coating, adhesive mixing and converting technology that uses environmentally friendly, water-based, solvent-free adhesives.
The expansion added about 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 15 new jobs in light manufacturing, process engineering and research and development, bringing the plant’s workforce up to nearly 100 employees.
Ada-based Dan Vos Construction Company was the architect and contractor on the project, which Tesa Tape funded internally.
Tesa Tape’s Sparta plant, which was built in 1982, makes products for the automotive, appliance, food packaging and oil exploration markets.
