Company acquires architecture firm
A local architecture and interior design firm has joined forces with a global company.
Dearborn-based Ghafari Associates, an architecture and engineering firm, said yesterday it acquired Grand Rapids-based Concept Design.
The move aims to expand Ghafari’s West Michigan presence and broaden Concept Design’s reach to international markets.
“The additional resources this union brings will broaden the range of services we provide, including full facility engineering and process engineering,” said Stephen Fry, founder and president, Concept Design. “Obviously, it deepens our bench strength and positions us on a faster path toward serving clients beyond western Michigan.”
Fry will continue to lead the Grand Rapids office under the brand Concept Design, a Ghafari Company.
He and SVP Tom Tooley will also join Ghafari’s management team.
All employees will remain in their current offices.
“As part of our strategic plan, we are expanding our core corporate and commercial expertise, as well as our geographic reach,” said Kouhaila Hammer, president and CEO, Ghafari Associates. “Joining forces with Concept Design enables us to enhance our design capabilities and corporate/commercial portfolio, while also affording their team the opportunity to grow professionally,”
The addition of the new Grand Rapids location will bring Ghafari’s total number of offices to eight in the U.S. and 15 globally.
Concept Design was founded nearly 30 years ago and specializes in commercial, corporate office, law, multi-family, hospitality, retail, restaurant and mixed-use facility projects.
