$4M senior living community starts construction
Construction has begun on a new $4-million assisted living center in the area.
The facility, called Legacies Assisted Living, is being built on a vacant lot in Caledonia, at 9031 N. Rodgers Ct. SE, according to Grand Rapids-based CD Barnes Construction, the contractor and architect on the project.
The project is slated to finish in November.
John Tetzlaff will own the facility, and Katy Juarez, a registered nurse, will head operations.
The 22,950-square-foot, single-story community will include 20 assisted living apartments and eight secure memory care units that include private bedrooms, living rooms and bathrooms.
The facility will feature a number of elements: activity rooms, an outdoor activity area, a barber and beauty shop, a variety store, a laundry room, a kitchen and café, dining areas and administrative offices.
Between 18 and 30 staff members will be hired for the community, including nurses, administrators, cooks, store workers and beauty salon workers.
The facility is being built to accommodate “lots of local demand for assisted living,” said Ellen Frey, marketing coordinator, CD Barnes.
Tetzlaff decided to open the facility after going through the process of looking for an assisted living facility with his mother.
With her advice, he began developing an assisted living community, which he hopes will provide residents with the “best possible quality of life and care.”
People can call Juarez at (616) 325-4309 or Tetzlaff at (616) 821-4100 for more information on the facility.
