A downtown museum will be offering free admission to military families for the summer and fall holidays.

Grand Rapids Children's Museum is partnering with SpartanNash to honor military families during Military Appreciation Weekends.

SpartanNash also is partnering with the museum to offer free admission for Family Nights to all museum guests.

Families with a military or veteran’s ID will have the opportunity to tour the museum on the weekend of July 6-8 to celebrate Independence Day, Sept. 7-9 for the remembrance of 9/11 and Nov. 9-11 to honor Veterans Day.

There will be free admission for museum guests during Family Nights on July 5, Sept. 6 and Nov. 8.

Meredith Gremel, SpartanNash vice president of corporate affairs and communications and executive director of the SpartanNash Foundation, said in partnership with GRMC, SpartanNash will cover the cost of admission for all veterans, active-duty military and their families during the holiday weekend visits.

“We are so glad to partner with SpartanNash,” said Maggie Lancaster, GRCM executive director. “We are able to give back to our community, especially those who have dedicated themselves selflessly by serving in the military. GRCM continues to share the philosophy that open-ended play is critical to the social-emotional, physical and cognitive well-being of all our children.”
