Companies expanding into industrial building
Two companies are expanding into a developing industrial property this summer.
All-Phase Electric Supply Co., an electrical distribution company, and Axis Company, an advanced automation company, have leased space at 1810 Turner Ave. NW in Grand Rapids, a 70,150-square-foot building that will be complete in June, according to Colliers International West Michigan today.
All-Phase signed a lease for 50,000 square feet, while Axis has leased the remaining 20,150 square feet.
Colliers International West Michigan represented both companies in the transaction.
“All-Phase will continue to serve customers from its current location off 44th Street in Wyoming, while their new location on Turner Avenue will serve as their primary Grand Rapids location,” said Tyler Candelaria, branch manager, All-Phase. “We are fully committed to offering our customers the best service possible, and this is the next step in our journey.”
All-Phase is based in Lansing and has several locations throughout the U.S. and West Michigan, including Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
Axis Company is based in Walker.
“We are excited to add a second strategic location and look forward to our growth at 1810 Turner Ave.,” said Boyd Vor Broker, CEO, Axis. “In this extremely tight industrial market, we are appreciative Colliers was able to assist us in this unique off-market solution to aid our growth plan.”
Grand Rapids-based Visser Development purchased the former auto junkyard on 1810 Turner Ave. NW in early 2017, as the Business Journal previously reported.
The firm originally had no tenants secured, but it predicted the site development would create between 140 and 190 jobs.
Visser Development also plans to build another 135,000-square-foot building on the property following completion of the current build.
The state also approved the project for over $1 million in brownfield funding last October, saying the new development would “substantially” improve the appearance of the site, which is visible from U.S. 131, north of downtown Grand Rapids.
