Construction firm adds to team
A local construction firm is building its team with four new members.
Grand Rapids-based Wolverine Building Group said yesterday it added Annette Zimmer and Kurtis Fritz as project managers, Michelle Glover as marketing and communication manager and Benjamin Amponsah to fill the newly created position of director of human resources.
“Each individual brings a tremendous amount of experience to the team, and we’re excited to see how they’ll help us continue to grow as an organization,” said Aaron Jonker, president, Wolverine Building Group.
Amponsah has over 13 years of experience in human resources. He has served as director of HR consulting for AxiosHR and held HR positions with Aquinas College, Spectrum Health, Metro Health and Lacks Enterprises. He holds a B.S. in technology and industrial arts from Berea College, an M.S. in manufacturing systems from North Carolina A&T State University and an M.A. in human resource management and industrial/labor relations from the University of Illinois School of Labor and Employee Relations.
Zimmer has a 30-year background in the construction industry, having held positions with A-Z Construction Management, Rockford Construction, ABC Discovery Center, Meijer and Midwest Tile, a company she established independently. She has served in business development, operations, project management and executive leadership roles.
Fritz has over seven years of construction experience and most recently served as a construction project manager for Meijer. He has also held roles at Bryan Contracting Group and Fessler & Bowman, a concrete contractor. He hold a B.S. in construction management from Michigan State University.
Glover has nearly four years of experience in marketing and communications. She has been an events project manager for the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, where she managed over 80 events and programs each year. She has also worked for Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids Public Museum and 8THIRTYFOUR Integrated Communications. She holds a B.S. in advertising and public relations from Grand Valley State University.
