Urban brewery opening beer garden
A local brewery is opening a beer garden and tapping into delivery after completing its expansion.
Harmony Brewing Company said last week it is putting the finishing touches on the project at its brewpub in Grand Rapids’ Eastown neighborhood, at 1551 Lake Dr. SE.
The expanded space will open on Wednesday and includes a second kitchen and an indoor/outdoor beer garden that will seat 70 guests outside and 60 inside.
“We will be able to welcome more people to Harmony,” said Heather VanDyke-Titus, co-owner, Harmony Brewing Company. “We’ve prioritized nice, big tables. People will know if they want to come with a big group on a Friday, there will be room.”
Harmony Brewing purchased the building last June, and the $400,000 project began last November.
The expansion will also enable Harmony Brewing to pilot delivery of its wood-fired pizzas, beer and retail items later this month.
Delivery will first be available to neighborhoods surrounding Harmony Brewing, including Eastown, East Grand Rapids and downtown Grand Rapids.
“We’re going to start fairly small with our delivery footprint until we get our wheels underneath us, so to speak, then we’ll hopefully be expanding from there,” said Barry VanDyke, co-owner, Harmony Brewing Company.
Customers will be able to order over the phone and online through Harmony’s new website.
Each order must meet a $20 minimum. Payment will only be accepted via a credit or debit card and can be processed online or in person.
