Downtown restaurant adds weekend brunch
A barbecue restaurant downtown is now serving brunch on the weekend.
Slows Bar BQ, which is inside the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, at 435 Ionia Ave. SW, said last week it has added the offering.
The brunch menu features “a fleet of stellar dishes,” such as the Slows Egg Benedict with bacon potato cake ($8), the Smothered Monte Cristo ($8) and Zephyr Pancakes with Darkhorse Brewing Co. maple syrup ($6).
Kelsey Busscher, catering and sales manager at Slows Bar BQ Grand Rapids, said the restaurant wanted to tap into a growing trend in the region.
“For the Grand Rapids demographic, brunch is a huge part of dining out, so we wanted to be a part of that scene,” Busscher said. “I know a lot of restaurants have (added it), and it’s been a big hit. We wanted to move it into the Downtown Market as well.”
The brunch menu is paired with a “weekend sips” drink menu, which features white or red sangria, Bloody Marys, mimosas and "dark ‘n’ stormy" cocktails for $5 each.
Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
