Sports bar opens downtown
A local restaurant company has opened a sports bar downtown.
Uccello’s Hospitality Group said this week it opened Uccello’s Ristorante & Sports Bar at 122 Monroe Center St. NW in Grand Rapids.
On April 9, Uccello’s announced it was closing its high-end Italian restaurant in the space, Mazzo Cucina D’Italia, and converting the location into a sports bar.
Mazzo Cucina D’Italia was open about a year.
Uccello’s converted the restaurant into a sports bar during April and May and held interviews for a number of positions.
The Grand Rapids-based restaurant company has five other Uccello’s locations in West Michigan and owns Herb & Fire Pizzeria, a fast-casual pizza place with locations in Grand Rapids and Grandville.
The menu at the new Uccello’s features a range of items: Italian-style starters; soups and salads; subs; sandwiches; burgers; burritos; pasta and risotto; pizza and stromboli; entrees; and dessert.
The downtown location is open from 11 a.m.-midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
