Grocery leaders rank as 'Top Women' in industry
A trade publication has included several local women on a national list of the top female leaders in the grocery industry.
Chicago-based Progressive Grocer named 15 SpartanNash employees — eight from West Michigan — to its 2018 list of 362 “Top Women in Grocery.”
Dave Staples, president and CEO of Bryon Center-based SpartanNash, said this year represents the largest class in the history of SpartanNash honorees on the list.
“It is a testament to the unique talents and backgrounds of our female associates and the ways they make SpartanNash a better company,” Staples said.
“We are honored to have so many strong female leaders, representing many different areas of our company and making SpartanNash a best-in-class business that feels local, where relationships matter.”
Since 2012, Progressive Grocer has included 63 SpartanNash associates on the list.
Top Women in Grocery award
The Top Women in Grocery award was established more than a decade ago to highlight “dynamic leading women” from some of the “most admired organizations in the U.S. supermarket business.”
“These women are the best of the best in the industry and play an important role in making their businesses excel,” said Kat Martin, senior editor, Progressive Grocer. “They all are leaders to be emulated and offer an example of what is needed to make the industry better for those who work in it and for the customers.”
Winners will be honored at a networking event and awards celebration on Nov. 8 at the Palmer House Hilton hotel in Chicago.
