Mechanical contractor renovates office
The local office of a mechanical contractor has received an upgrade.
Allied Mechanical Services’ office in Grand Rapids, at 3860 Roger B. Chaffee Memorial Blvd. SE, has a new open design, according to Custer last month.
Kalamazoo-based Allied Mechanical Services, or AMS, which specializes in piping, plumbing and HVAC, and Grand Rapids-based Custer, a workspace design firm, partnered to design and renovate 4,673 square feet of office space.
The project also included renovating the office of ControlNET in the same building. ControlNET is a building and temperature controls contractor and a subsidiary of AMS.
“Allied Mechanical is on the leading edge when it comes to construction technology, and we wanted our office to reflect our commitment to innovation,” said Steve Huizinga, president, AMS.
Custer provided interior design and custom design services, technology and furniture for the project.
AMS provided construction services and built a custom metal conference table as the centerpiece of its new office.
AMS’ original office layout “had little sunlight,” and the renovation “opened up the space and brought in more natural light,” said Kylee Haywood, new business development manager, Custer.
Custer brought in Steelcase privacy walls to offer flexibility for offices and conference rooms. It also created custom cabinets and shelving out of pipes and brought in height-adjustable desks.
The renovated AMS space has nine private offices and two workstations.
ControlNET’s renovated space has four private offices and nine workstations.
AMS, founded in 1985, also has a third office in Jackson.
