A developer will soon break ground on a new $3.5-million shopping center near a hospital in the area.

Wyoming-based Granger Group said this week it will start construction on Village Life Marketplace in Wyoming, at 2380 Health Dr. SW, on July 16.

The project should take 10 months to finish.

The shopping center will be located across the street from the firm’s First & Main retirement community in the city and be within Metro Health Village, which is a partnership between the firm and Metro Health.

Granger Group did not disclose specific tenants, but it said the shopping center will house a smoothie shop, a sub shop and a Tex-Mex restaurant.

The second story of the building will mostly be used as office space by Granger Group.

Village Life Marketplace is one of roughly 10 other developments planned for Metro Health Village within the next 12 months.

Firms on the project

The architect on the shopping center project is Ann Arbor-based OX Studio.

FCC Construction out of Caledonia is the project's general contractor.

Lending for the project is being provided by First National Bank of Michigan.
