Brewery expands space, brewing capacity
A local brewery is moving, but not far.
Railtown Brewing Company will open the doors of its new brewpub on July 16. The new building is located at 3595 68th St. SE, Dutton, which is next door to the brewery’s original location.
The new building features two stories and more than twice the seating capacity of the original location. The second floor will eventually be available for private events.
Previously, Railtown Brewing had a “bring your own food” policy, but the new space comes with a kitchen that will serve standard pub fare with cross-cultural flavor. Dishes will take inspiration from Dutch, Chinese, Korean and other cuisine.
Railtown co-owner Justin Buiter said the new pub will maintain the original’s industrial look, featuring exposed ceilings and duct work.
“It takes a lot of the feel from our current space. It’s just bigger,” Buiter said.
Railtown Brewing will have a “last hurrah” party on July 14 at the original location, 3555 68th St. SE. The event will feature special beers on tap.
“All our staff will be present to reminisce about all the stuff we accomplished over here, and the future next door,” Buiter said.
Railtown Brewing also has doubled its production capacity with new equipment from Psycho Brew, a Greenville-based brewing equipment company. Buiter said the brewery has plans for distribution in the near future.
