Restaurant Week GR serving up specials
More than 70 restaurants are ready to participate in Restaurant Week GR.
Organized by Experience Grand Rapids, the ninth-annual event will run from Aug. 8-19.
Event officials are encouraging people to make their Restaurant Week GR plans early.
A list of participating locations and their special Restaurant Week GR menus are available online.
In addition to two-course menus for lunch and dinner, a new dining option has been added called Chef’s Choice, which allows for open-ended, multi-course menus.
Several pricing options will be offered during the week: two courses for $15 per person, available for lunch and dinner; two courses for $25 per person, available for dinner; and Chef’s Choice for various prices over $25 per person, available for dinner.
The idea behind the new option was based on customer and restaurant staff feedback.
Diners asked for more casual summer options, as well as multi-course options.
“By introducing the Chef’s Choice option and continuing to offer both lunch and dinner, we are excited to see the restaurants expand on the creativity of their menus,” said Kate Lieto, director of marketing, Experience Grand Rapids. “The menus this year are very fun and sound delicious. The chefs are loving the ability to expand on their creativity. They have really stepped up to this new opportunity with Restaurant Week GR.”
Restaurant Week GR promotes the greater Grand Rapids culinary scene, and it has also provided over $143,000 to students through an endowed scholarship fund at the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education.
Participating locations each donate $1 for every Restaurant Week GR meal sold at their establishments.
Those who submit food photographs on Instagram under the hashtag #RWGR could be selected to win gift cards from participating restaurants and may be featured in an Experience Grand Rapids blog post.
