The telecom company Charter Communications is laying off 51 sales support employees in Walker.

The layoff is effective Aug. 9, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter to the state.

The move is due to Charter’s decision to end its residential sales support function at its facility at 3355 Walker Ave. NW. The entire facility will not be closed.

Staff members affected by the action include two regional sales support managers, 43 sales support coordinators and six regional sales support supervisors.

All affected employees have been notified as of June 5 and have been given the option to apply for other open positions within the company.
