VNN partners with health providers

The Grand Rapids-based high school sports communication platform VNN has partnered with a group of health care providers in the U.S. to roll out digital sports medicine libraries in several markets.

The custom sports medicine libraries aim to give parents, athletes, staff and fans easy access to health information on official high school sports websites.

The libraries will include information about injury prevention, workout plans, nutrition and support systems, as defined by the health system in each school's community.

There are five health care partners: Northside Hospital in Atlanta; Henry Community Health in Indianapolis; Southwest General Health Center in Cleveland; Premier Health System in western Ohio; and Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh.

"Our platforms are the online home for essential high school sports content, and these partnerships create the opportunity to have a major positive impact across the nation by helping active families understand key issues relating to their health with information from the providers who know them best."

The company, founded in 2010, has over 60 employees and works with about 2,000 schools across the U.S.

It has raised about $8.3 million in venture capital funding, according to Crunchbase.

WNN was co-founded by CEO Ryan Vaughn. He previously founded the publication West Michigan All-Star, and he holds a B.A. in creative writing from Western Michigan University and an M.S. in communications from Grand Valley State University.
