Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery is uncorking a specialty wine tomorrow.

The family-owned business in Grand Rapids Township is adding Robinette Cellars Chocolate wine to its lineup.

The winery will offer samples from noon to 4 p.m. and bottles to take home. It is located at 3142 4 Mile Rd. NE.

Kerri Van Eck, administrative assistant for Robinette’s, described the chocolate wine as easy to drink and similar to chocolate milk, but with 14 percent ABV.

“Chocolate wine has been around for a while,” Van Eck said. “It’s kind of difficult to make. We found a place that does it well for us.”

Van Eck did not disclose the name of the producer, but said all of Robinette’s wines are Michigan made.

Robinette’s chocolate wine is currently not available for retail distribution.

Robinette’s orchard has been around since 1911, and the owners, the Robinette family, opened the Apple Haus in 1973 to serve lunch, coffee, baked goods and fresh fruit.

The company began serving wine in 2006 and offers a seasonal variety of hard ciders and Michigan-made wines.
