Over 15,000 quilters from across the country are convening downtown this week.

QuiltWeek 2018, by the American Quilter’s Society, will be held at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.

It will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The event will feature a Merchant Mall with 250 local and national vendors.

More than 700 colorful historic and modern quilts with pictorial, landscape and pattern designs will be on display and more than $50,000 in prizes will be awarded for quilting excellence.

There will be more than 50 workshops, which will be taught by experts in the international quilt industry. There will also be classes, lectures and special events that involve choosing fabrics, cutting, fusing and sewing, among other topics.

For the first time this year, attendees will receive discounted admission to several attractions in the city.

Tickets can be purchased at DeVos Place. One-day tickets are $14, two-day tickets are $25 and multi-day tickets are $35.
