Brewery creates beer for ArtPrize
A local brewery is saying “salud” with a Spanish-style lager to benefit ArtPrize.
Founders Brewing Co.’s latest ArtPrize beer is Trigo (Spanish for wheat), a pale wheat lager brewed in collaboration with the Madrid-based brewing company Mahou San Miguel.
Mahou owns a 30-percent stake in Founders, according to a previous Business Journal report.
“We’re strong believers that the only thing better than brewing beer is brewing beer with friends,” Founders says on its website. “(Mahou) brought their lager-brewing expertise, and we brought our hopping expertise. The result is a clean and crisp wheat lager with big, American-hopped aromatics.”
This is the sixth year Founders has rolled out a special beer for ArtPrize.
Trigo comes in at 6.3-percent ABV.
It will be available on tap on Sept. 14 and for retail distribution later in the month.
The can’s artwork is from a member of Founders’ culinary team and a “kitsch” painter, Cody Levon.
