A physical therapy practice is opening its 10th clinic in West Michigan.

Coopersville-based Northern Physical Therapy is opening the clinic on Sept. 4 in Calendonia, at 9321 Cherry Valley Ave. SE.

Northern Physical Therapy renovated a 2,400-square-foot building, which now includes an office, treatment rooms, laundry room, reception area and fully furnished gym.

Hudsonville-based Foster Construction was contracted for the project.

The cost of the project was not disclosed. There was no financing through a bank.

The clinic will treat people who are suffering from back pain, shoulder pain, post-surgery recovery, joint replacement, arthritis, pelvic issues and neurological disorders.

The location will feature a team of sports rehabilitation experts to work with athletes on sprains, strains, localized pain and sports injuries.

It will also offer Northern’s most popular fitness classes, including RunFit 5k training, later this year.

The practice's owners, Janis Kemper and Gina Otterbein, agreed there was a need for the new clinic, because there were patients traveling from the Caledonia and Middleville areas to the two closest clinics in Lowell and Wayland.

Kemper said they plan to continue expanding “when the right time and opportunity present themselves.”

Denise Jongekrijg is the clinic director and a physical therapist. She is a Certified Mulligan Practitioner and has taken additional courses in treating vertigo.

Sherry Kopf is the clinic’s patient coordinator.

Northern Physical Therapy is scheduling new patients at the location. The clinic will accommodate appointments within 24 hours and offer complimentary injury consultations with a physical therapist.

The clinic will have early morning and evening hours and accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
