A grocery chain is celebrating the grand re-opening of a store in the area after a summer-long renovation.

Byron Center-based SpartanNash finished last month a $1.2-million renovation of its Allendale Family Fare Supermarket, at 6370 Lake Michigan Dr. NW.

Construction began in May, and the store remained open for business while renovations were underway.

“Our new-and-improved Allendale Family Fare includes some exciting ways to better serve our store guests, while still delivering the easy-to-navigate store, weekly ad specials and budget-friendly savings our customers expect,” said Bruce Emery, VP of the Retail East Division for SpartanNash, which owns the Family Fare Supermarkets brand.

The Allendale Family Fare employs 110 associates, which includes four full-time and several part-time employees added as a result of the store renovation.

The store is open 24 hours a day.

Grand Rapids-based Bouma Construction was the contractor on the project.

SpartanNash handled the project’s interior design.

The store was re-designed to make navigation of the perimeter and aisles easier.

New signs, flooring, décor and energy-efficient lighting were installed to update the interior of the store, and the exterior received a facelift.
