Bar chain opening second location in Grand Rapids
A locally based chain of beer bars is opening another location in town this weekend.
HopCat’s 17th location will have a grand opening tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Grand Rapids, at 2183 E. Beltline Ave. NE.
HopCat announced its plan to open the location in March.
When the plan was announced, the chain’s CEO Mark Gray said the new location would allow HopCat to serve customers who might not visit downtown Grand Rapids very often, where the original HopCat is located, the Business Journal previously reported.
The company renovated an existing 6,150-square-foot building that was previously Johnny Carino's and later Fajita Republic.
The new location will seat 250 customers and have an outdoor dining area that will seat another 70 customers.
The full-service bar will feature a cocktail menu and 80 local drafts.
The food menu will feature signature HopCat offerings, including stuffed burgers, sandwiches, Detroit-style pizza, Killer Mac N Cheese, Pretzel Nuggz and Crack Fries, named among the nation’s “10 best french fries” by Food Network Magazine.
As part of the grand-opening celebration, HopCat Knapp’s Corner is offering free Crack Fries every week for a year for the first 200 guests and free Crack fries all day to all grand-opening visitors.
The opening coincides with HopCat’s 10th anniversary since opening its first restaurant and bar in 2008.
