SMG appoints director of facilities
SMG has promoted a long-time employee to manage its Grand Rapids facilities.
Chris Anderson was named the new director of facilities for the SMG-managed Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and the DeVos Performance Hall.
“I’m excited to take on this new role and continue my career with SMG,” Anderson said. “I am appreciative of the opportunity ahead of me, and I am eager to continue working with the team here, as I transition into and make this role my own.”
Anderson will be responsible for the maintenance department at all three facilities, which handles facility updates and upkeep, capital projects, electrical systems, mechanical systems and more, according to an SMG spokesperson.
He has been employed at SMG since 2003 and has taken on numerous roles. When he started he was a maintenance technician. He later went on to become the chief engineer.
Anderson has nearly 25 year years of maintenance experience.
He began his career with Prince Machine and Jefferson Commons before joining SMG.
Anderson is native of Dorr, and he is actively involved in the community.
He has coached a variety of community sports teams, including soccer, baseball, wrestling and football. He is a volunteer at Life Change Community Church and became the youth group leader in 2016.
