Contractor begins $6.5M industrial park expansion
A local contractor has started a $6.5-million project to expand an industrial park in the area.
Grand Rapids-based a. j. Veneklasen, or AJV, broke ground last month on a 113,600-square-foot addition to the industrial park at 5300 Broadmoor Ave. SE in Kentwood.
The expansion encompasses a single building with four tenant spaces.
The project should be finished by next spring.
“We’re excited about the continued investment in Grand Rapids,” said Chris Veneklasen, president, AJV. “The market is continuing to experience great growth, and it is clear the West Michigan industrial sector is strong.”
AJV said three prospective tenants are planning to move into the building, occupying a total of 96,800 square feet: a maker of electronic components; a printer; and a bearings manufacturer.
The remaining tenant space,16,800 square feet, will be suited for a variety of users, ranging from food processing or an office showroom, to warehousing or distribution.
“Tenants are seeking opportunities for quality industrial space across Kent County,” Veneklasen said.
AJV is a family-owned general contractor that opened in 1976.
