Shop running social media contest for 'free year of ice cream'
A local ice cream shop is running a contest for Instagram users during ArtPrize that will result in the winner receiving a “free year of ice cream.”
Furniture City Creamery in Grand Rapids said yesterday it will conduct the photo contest for customers during the city-wide ArtPrize 10 that runs Sept. 19-Oct. 7.
A randomly selected winner will be chosen to receive a free daily scoop or single cone of ice cream for a year.
“The #ouricecreamisart Instagram contest is a way to celebrate creativity and perhaps win yourself a scoop a day for the next year,” said Rachel Franko, owner, Furniture City Creamery.
How to enter
Customers must buy specially marked Furniture City Creamery ice cream treats from either the shop at 958 Cherry St. SE or its ice cream truck (dates and locations below).
Then, they must visit an official ArtPrize exhibit and post a picture to Instagram of themselves eating the ice cream with the hashtag #ouricecreamisart. To be eligible, participants must follow @FurnitureCityCreamery on the social network.
Participants can enter as many times as they like, once per purchased treat.
Specially marked treats will include any treats sold from the business’ ice cream truck, as well as an assortment of ice cream sandwiches sold from its shop seven days a week.
Many of the sandwiches will be new flavors debuting for ArtPrize.
The winner will be selected at random by Furniture City Creamery from all eligible entries submitted during the contest.
Furniture City Creamery will notify the winner via Instagram during the week following ArtPrize, and the individual will be asked to pick up a certificate from the store that must be presented each time they come to claim their free daily scoop or single cone.
The prize will be activated upon receipt of the first treat and be good until the same calendar date of the following year. It excludes dates the shop is closed. Furniture City Creamery is open year-round, except on select holidays.
The ice cream truck can be found in the following places during ArtPrize 10:
Sept. 19 and Sept. 28: parking lot of Lifestyle Kitchen Studios on Fulton
Sept. 21, 22, 23 and 29: Fountain Street between Ionia and Division, near KCAD
