A local nonprofit is hosting a race in town this weekend to benefit animals in need.

Tomorrow is the last day to register for the Humane Society of West Michigan’s sixth-annual Bark in the Dark 5k and 1-mile run/walk.

The dog-friendly race will be from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, at 2001 Monroe Ave. NE.

The post-race celebration will feature a beer tent, food and raffle. Each registered adult will receive a free drink at the beer tent.

Registered racers will be prompted to create an online fundraising page to collect donations.

Registration for adults 18 and older is $35, plus a $3 signup fee. The cost for children ages 5-17 is $10, plus a $2 signup fee. Children ages 4 and under can race for free.
