Change Ups: Newton receives CPOY Award
Joel Newton, detail manager at Windemuller, was named the 2018 Craft Professional of the Year by Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan. The CPOY winner is a master of skills whose commitment to excellence makes him or her the decisive example of merit-shop success. Newton was presented with a trophy custom designed and handmade out of raw materials by tradespeople at Allied Mechanical Services. The award incorporates three of Newton’s defining attributes: his electrical trade, his service to the country and his love of cartoon mice.

Jackson-based Consumers Energy announced plans to provide more electric vehicles for its employees. The company now is buying or leasing electric vehicles instead of purchasing new sedans that rely on gasoline. Also announced is the start of a pilot program to test smart charging for electric vehicle owners.

Everstream Solutions LLC, with regional offices in Lansing and Grand Rapids, announced AMP Capital, a global investment manager headquartered in Australia, purchased the company.
