An automotive supplier is moving a tech center in the region to the state’s east side.

Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, a China-based supplier, announced it will close its Holland Tech Center, at 701 S. Waverly Rd.

The company is moving the operation to its tech center in Novi, at 41935 W. 12 Mile Rd.

The Novi center will serve as the company’s main technical center in Michigan.

The Holland center “no longer aligns to our current and future needs,” the company said.

The company will offer relocation to the Novi tech center for employees affected by the transition, said Debra Ortisi, executive director of communications, Yanfeng Automotive Interiors.

Ortisi said it’s too early to speculate how many employees will relocate, and the number of staff affected by the closing was not specified.

The company will also invest in its existing Holland Southview plant, at 1600 S. Washington Ave., starting in 2019, and establish a Southview Tech Center that is expected to be complete in early 2020.

The Southview Tech Center will serve as the North American manufacturing process innovation center and house about 300 positions.

The transition will take place over a three-year period.

Yangfeng employs about 2,000 people in West Michigan.
