College appoints ex-furniture maker CEO to board
A West Michigan business leader is joining the board of a college in the area.
Brian Walker, former president and CEO of Zeeland-based Herman Miller, will join the board of trustees for Caledonia Township-based Davenport University.
Walker is board chairman for The Right Place in Grand Rapids and a board member for Briggs & Stratton Corporation, The Stephen A. Wynn Institute for Vision Research and Grand Rapids Township-based Universal Forest Products.
He is the recipient of Davenport University's 2018 Peter C. Cook Excellence in Business Award.
"I'm honored to join the Davenport University Board of Trustees," Walker said. "Davenport is fostering the next generation of bright and innovative minds, and I look forward to working with the board and leadership team."
Walker previously served on the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Detroit and was president of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
