A coffee shop on the city’s West Side was the target of an armed robbery this morning.

Bitter End Coffeehouse, at 752 Fulton W, was robbed at about 5:15 a.m., according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

The GRPD said two suspects, one with a firearm, demanded money.

The robbers stole money from the register, while four customers were in the coffee shop, the GRPD said.

The staff and patrons were not harmed.

The assailants were wearing winter clothes, and they are still on the run, the GRPD said.

A forensic team and K9 were on the scene collecting evidence after the robbery.

“In all of the 15 years we’ve been opened, this is the first time this has occurred,” said John Sprit, owner, The Bitter End Coffeehouse. “The customers were calm. They were studying and making jokes.”
