A pair of local health care organizations have signed a collaboration agreement designed to improve patient care.

Grand Rapids-based Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital and Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health said yesterday they’re establishing a Forum for Hospital Collaboration together.

The "formal collaboration" will focus first on coordinated pediatric research and tracking the results of patients from birth to 17 who receive care through both organizations.

They will also collaborate on refining the process to coordinate the intensive rehabilitation services that patients receive through both organizations.

Kent Riddle, president and CEO of Mary Free Bed, and Tina Freese Decker, president and CEO of Spectrum Health, signed the agreement and are "both committed to the forum."
