Nonprofit relocates office
A nonprofit that focuses on promoting kidney health has relocated to a new space in town.
The Grand Rapids branch of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan has moved to a 3,300-square-foot space at 1345 Monroe Ave. NW.
The former 2,400-square-foot space, at 260 Leonard NW in Grand Rapids, was becoming too small for the organization’s growing staff, according to Joyce Williams, a spokesperson for the nonprofit.
While there is no additional hiring planned, the move will accommodate five new staff hired over the last 18 months.
There are 10 people working in the space, which has a 20-person capacity.
Williams said lack of storage was also an issue at the former location.
The new space contains three offices, a multi-use conference room and 18 open cubicle workspaces.
The office is "open and inspires collaboration among the team and our partners," said Charlene Cole, a foundation VP and head of the branch.
"It gives us more space to do what we need to do to serve our communities well,” Cole said.
The landlord is Grand Rapids-based Breton Associates.
Michael Mikesell of Ada-based Foundation Real Estate Corporation represented the nonprofit in the move.
