A local security company has made its second acquisition of the year.

Grand Rapids-based EPS Security said yesterday it acquired Owosso-based Security Alarm Company, or SAC.

EPS has added six SAC employees to its operations, along with 1,400 business and residential customers, bringing EPS’ total customer base to 30,000.

“Security Alarm Company has been securing the Lansing area and southeast region of Michigan since 1970,” said Kevin Carlson, president, EPS Security.

The acquisition of SAC’s office at 1906 Corunna Ave. in Owosso gives EPS its first address east of Lansing, allowing EPS to better serve existing customers in Lansing and southeast Michigan.

“Our customers have been great to us for nearly 50 years,” said Terry Blanchett, president, SAC. “I’m happy to be putting their security and protection needs into the outstanding hands of EPS.”

EPS intends to move customers previously subscribed to SAC 24/7 monitoring services to its monitoring center in Grand Rapids.
