A museum downtown is partnering with a local brewery to host an event next week on dark beer.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum, along with Brewery Vivant, will host Dark Beer, Dark Side on Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the museum, at 272 Pearl St. NW.

It will begin with a 45-minute presentation from Ryan Engemann, the “Wandering Monk” from Brewery Vivant, on the differences between various dark beers.

After the presentation, Brewery Vivant will offer beer to guests 21 or older, before they begin watching “Dark Side: The Light Show” in the museum’s Chaffee Planetarium. The light show will be set to music from Pink Floyd’s album “The Dark Side of the Moon.”

Tickets are $22 and $12 for museum members.

Each ticket includes admission and beer samples from Tart Side of the Barrel, Tart Side of the Moon and Velvet Stud. Guests must be 21 years or older for the samples.
