A producer of fulvic acid mineral products for various industries has named the new head of its scientific operations.

Kalamazoo-based Mineral Logic said last month it hired biochemist Mark Williams to serve as the company’s chief science officer.

Mineral Logic said Williams will play an important role in the company’s growth.

“We’re pleased to have Mark on the team and know that his technical knowledge and experience will be a considerable asset for our customers,” said Andrew Bruex, co-founder and COO, Mineral Logic.

“As more global formulators look to enhance their products with fulvic mineral powders and liquid concentrates, it’s critical that suppliers bring customers a deep well of knowledge when it comes to the science, applications, FDA compliance and cGMP practices associated with fulvic acids.

“Mark’s addition to the Mineral Logic team further expands our capabilities and the value we can provide to formulators in the U.S., Europe and other parts of the world.”

Williams’ role will be to “provide the company with current scientific documentation on the physiological structure and function of the ingredient profile comprising MLG-50,” as well as to “provide scientific guidance on FDA compliance regarding safety regulations required for the marketing of MLG-50,” according to Williams’ LinkedIn profile.

MLG-50 is a trademarked fulvic extraction that Mineral Logic makes in fine powder and liquid concentrations, according to its website.

Williams’ background

Williams brings almost 30 years of experience in the academic and biotechnology sectors to Mineral Logic.

He is a former research scientist at Northeastern University and at several companies in the Boston area, including NanoFrames and Omnigene Bioproducts.

Williams also served as a freelance and in-house scientific writer and consultant for various companies.

He was awarded a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to study human viruses from 1995-1997.

He earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Boston College in 1995.
