A law firm in the region has added a new practice in response to “a need” in its market.

Muskegon-based Parmenter Law said this month its new family law practice will focus on numerous issues: divorce, collaborative divorce, child support, child custody, paternity rights, adoption, guardianships, modification of decrees, spousal maintenance, legal separation, protection orders and property division.

“We pride ourselves on our holistic approach and ability to service our clients’ wide variety of needs,” said Jill Bolde, business and real estate paralegal, Parmenter Law. “We found there is a need in the community for a family law practice, and we believe it will complement what we are already doing for our clients.”

The firm’s family law practice will be led by shareholder Brian Leibrandt, associate Matthew Mills and paralegal Deborah Mogdis.

"Our family law team understands that family law matters are inherently emotional and stressful,” Mills said. “We are always available to lend a patient ear to our client regarding both their legal and personal needs.

“Our assistance does not stop at the conclusion of the trial or hearing. We make sure that we provide the services necessary to address issues that often arise at the conclusion of a divorce, separation or other major life change."

Brian Leibrandt

Leibrandt is a member of the Muskegon County Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Bar of Tennessee. He holds a B.A. in business administration from Michigan State University and a J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law, which he earned in 2010.

Matthew Mills

Mills has experience in federal, circuit, probate and district courts. He is a member of the Muskegon County Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan. He holds a B.A., cum laude, from Western Michigan University and a J.D. from the University of Mississippi, which he earned in 2014.

Deborah Mogdis

Mogdis joined Parmenter Law in October. She has 24 years of experience in family law and was “strategically hired to help grow and service” the new practice.

Parmenter Law

Parmenter Law, which dates back to 1948, is located in downtown Muskegon.

It offers a variety of legal services, from business law to trust and estate administration.
