Law firm adds to team

There are some new faces at a local law firm.

Grand Rapids-based Miller Johnson said last week it hired three associate attorneys: Sandra Andre, Blake Padget and Michael Penny.

Sandra Andre

Andre will be working at the firm’s Grand Rapids office.

She will be part of the firm’s employment litigation team, representing employers.

She will counsel employers and human resources pros on various employment-related issues, including affirmative action, FMLA, wage and hour compliance and union management.

Andre has more than 11 years of experience working in human resources in health care, manufacturing and higher education.

She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

She holds a B.S., with honors, in psychology and a master of human resources and labor relations from Michigan State University, as well as a J.D., magna cum laude, from the MSU College of Law, which she earned this year.

Blake Padget

Padget will be practicing employment and labor law at the firm’s Kalamazoo office.

He will focus on counseling employers on matters such as discipline and discharge, policies and procedures and immigration.

He will be working with human resources pros on compliance issues, such as wage and hour, family medical leave and disability accommodation.

Padget is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

He holds a B.A. from Alma College and a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law, which he earned this year.

Michael Penny

Penny will be practicing at the firm’s Grand Rapids office as part of the mergers and acquisitions team.

He will also help clients with the operation of their businesses, including commercial contracts and agreements, entity formation, licensing and tax issues and general business matters.

Penny is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

He holds a B.A. from Aquinas College and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Michigan State University College of Law, which he earned this year.
