Quilting shop opening doors
A shopping center in town is welcoming a new quilting shop.
Savasana Quilts will host a grand-opening celebration on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for its new 740-square-foot shop in Grand Rapids, at 2211 E. Beltline Ave. NE, according to Colliers International West Michigan yesterday.
The new crafts store will offer numerous classes: Learn to Sew, Quilt Basics, Quilt as You Go, Make and Wear, Bag Making, English Paper Piecing, Foundation Paper Piecing and more.
“We welcome anyone — whether you’re new to sewing or an expert — to stop by our shop and discover the unique fabrics, tools and classes we have to offer,” said Abigail Jasen, owner, Savasana Quilts.
“We love our new location because of the vibrancy and growth happening at Knapp’s Crossing and that SarahCare, an adult day center, is located next door to our shop.”
The grand-opening event will feature specials, including 15-percent off storewide, prize drawings and goodie bags for the first 20 customers.
Chris Prins, senior associate at Colliers International West Michigan, represented Savasana Quilts in the lease deal.
Dave Denton, VP of brokerage at Plainfield Township-based DAR Development, represented the unnamed landlord in the deal.
