Griffins gear up for New Year's weekend blowout
The Grand Rapids Griffins will finish 2018 by giving.
The hockey team is hosting its 22nd annual New Year’s Eve celebration at Van Andel Arena, 130 West Fulton St.
Prior to that event, the Griffins play Saturday at home against the Cleveland Monsters and the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Bluetooth speaker, which is presented by Adventure Credit Union. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the game begins at 7 p.m.
Friends & Family 4-Packs presented by Big E’s Sports Grill are available for all Saturday games, including the Dec. 29 game. Each pack includes four or more tickets and $12 in concession cash for a discounted price, plus a coupon for one free large, one-topping pizza at Big E's Sports Grill.
On Monday, New Years’ Eve, the Griffins take on the Rockford IceHogs. There will be post-game fireworks, billed as “West Michigan’s Largest Indoor Fireworks Show.” The extravaganza is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the game begins at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the games can be purchased online, on the Griffins’ app, in-person at all Star Tickets outlets, at The Zone on the west side of Van Andel Arena, and over the phone through Star Tickets at (800) 585-3737.
Advance ticket prices are $16, $19, $20, $21 and $23 in the arena's upper level, and $22, $26, $31 and $37 in the lower level. There is an additional $3 per ticket charge on the day of the game.
On game night, tickets may be purchased without a convenience charge at the Van Andel Arena box office, beginning 90 minutes before game time. Fans who attend multiple games can avoid charges and receive a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 10- or 20-game ticket plan.
