The Grand Rapids Women’s Golf Association is opening its inaugural season in the spring of 2019.

The association, or GRWGA, said this month it has launched with the support of sponsor Golf Galaxy and participating courses.

GRWGA was co-founded by greater Grand Rapids residents and "avid golfers" Judy Kamis, Marcie Palmer and Sue Westphall.

The season will feature 20 events at numerous golf courses in area: The Meadows at Grand Valley State University; Kaufman; Pilgrim’s Run; Thornapple Pointe; Quail Ridge; Saskatoon; Gleneagle; Boulder Creek; The Mines; Cedar Chase; and Alpine.

There will be a variety of golf formats, such as best ball, scrambles, low gross and low net and 6/6/6, as well as special events for members.

Member benefits include discounted greens fees.

Members of GRWGA will also be given access to recreational handicap tracking software to enter scores from GRWGA events and other rounds they play.

The software system tracks the golf scores for rounds entered and provides members with an in-depth analysis of their games for "continuous improvement."

The system will also assist organizers with pairings, flighting and scoring for GRWGA events.

People can sign up to be a member at grwga.com.
